Inaugural Lecture by Professor Nadia Svirydzenka

Thursday 28 May 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

As part of our Inaugural Lecture Series.

Join us to hear from Nadia Svirydzenka Professor in Cultural Identities for her inaugural professorial lecture: At the Intersections: Culture, Identity, and the Psychology of Belonging.

From identity to inequality, a critical discussion of who we are in a divided world and how communities-led approaches can drive meaningful change.

What shapes our sense of being? Understanding who we are and why it matters for our health and wellbeing has never been more important than in this moment in history. In this inaugural lecture, Professor Nadia Svirydzenka explores how cultural identities are formed, lived, and negotiated across diverse and often challenging contexts. Drawing on interdisciplinary and international research, she examines how migration, socioeconomic inequality housing insecurity, and gender inequality shape experiences of identity and resilience. Showcasing innovative, participatory approaches, such as co-creation and storytelling, this lecture offers a fresh perspective on inclusion, belonging, and the future of culturally informed psychological research and practice. It takes us one step closer to addressing real-world challenges through meaningful, community-led solutions.

A drinks reception will follow after the lecture.

Ticket sales will close 1 hour before the event starts.
