Jonathan Kerry BA MA

Chief Executive of the Diocese of Leicester

Jonathan Kerry was appointed as an independent governor in August 2022 and is a member of the Audit Committee.

Jonathan brings a wide experience of governance, having served for many years as a trustee of charities involved in areas as diverse as publishing, international development, HIV/Aids support, youth work, prostate cancer and the arts. His career has taken him from railway operational management (and a spell as a Public Member of Network Rail) to senior positions in the Methodist and Anglican Churches. Over the years, he has had major strategic responsibilities across fields, including training and development, equality and inclusion and organisational development.

Jonathan has served as Chief Executive of the Diocese of Leicester since 2011, working with the Bishop of Leicester to support the churches and communities of the city and county. He has served as a Governor of Leicester College of Further Education since 2013, becoming Chair of the Board in 2017. This role has led him to serve on the Governors’ Council and Board of the Association of Colleges, which is the national representative body for the Further Education Sector in England.

He holds degrees in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge and in Theology from the University of Manchester, and has also served as a university chaplain in Plymouth and Sheffield. Locally, Jonathan chairs the charity TwentyTwenty, which supports vulnerable teenagers in developing their life and relationship skills, and is a trustee of the Leicester Comedy Festival.

Since moving to Leicester, Jonathan has been determined to contribute to locally-based institutions which have strong community roots and to uses his networks to promote the flourishing of everyone, whatever their background.
